About
Our Story
Mountain Voices began some fifteen years ago under the direction of Donna James. Knowing the uniting power of music in the community, Donna founded Mountain Voices Community Choir, wherein people from all over the community could join together and make wonderful music and memories. Since its founding, Mountain Voices has performed some eighty concerts to hundreds of wonderful people and continues to be a staple in our small mountain neighborhood.
Our Directors
Donna Bunn James - Founder & Director
Donna is a mother, caregiver, free-lance musician, teacher, conductor, writer, gardener, and terrible housekeeper. She is a graduate of Furman University (B.M.) and Piedmont College (M.A. in music). She is Minister of Music and Children at First Presbyterian Church of Cornelia, GA. She founded Mountain Voices and—in addition to leading, planning, conducting, and singing with the group—she will sometimes accompany.
Taylor Sexton - Assistant Director
A longtime friend of Donna's, Taylor graduated from Piedmont College in 2014 with a B.A. in Music. Although primarily a percussionist, he had the privilege of being heavily involved with Piedmont's Chamber Singers and Mountain Voices throughout his musical career, acquiring a strong affection for vocal music along the way.
